About the position

The Operations Controller at Belden, Inc. is a pivotal role designed to support the Plant Managers across three locations, with a primary focus on the Operational Accounting and Finance needs of these facilities. This position is based on-site at the Syracuse facility and reports directly to the Global Operations Controller. The Operations Controller will be responsible for a variety of financial and operational tasks that are essential for the smooth functioning of the plants. In this role, the Operations Controller will engage in budgeting activities, which include preparing budgets and measuring performance against these budgets to ensure financial targets are met. Forecasting is another critical responsibility, where the controller will prepare forecasts and measure actual performance against these forecasts to provide insights into future financial performance. The position also involves operational reporting, which encompasses daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting to track the financial health of the operations. Inventory management is a key aspect of this role, requiring the Operations Controller to conduct analysis, cycle counting, physical inventory checks, and management of excess and obsolete inventory. Additionally, the controller will be involved in costing activities, which include creating, maintaining, and analyzing cost data to support decision-making processes. Ad hoc reporting will also be a part of the responsibilities, providing tailored financial insights as needed by the management team.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and measuring budgets for the plant operations.
  • Preparing and measuring forecasts to assess future financial performance.
  • Conducting daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly operational reporting.
  • Analyzing inventory, including cycle counting and physical inventory checks.
  • Managing excess and obsolete inventory (E&O Management).
  • Creating, maintaining, and analyzing costing data.
  • Providing ad hoc reporting as required.

Requirements

  • Strong Excel skills are required for data analysis and reporting.
  • Previous finance or accounting experience in a manufacturing plant is essential.
  • Previous experience with SAP is preferred, but not required.
