About the position

The CTG Operations Controller is a pivotal role within Cleaning Technologies Group, LLC, responsible for overseeing the cost accounting and gross margin reporting functions. This position is integral to the financial health of the organization, working closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Divisional Presidents to drive strategic initiatives and enhance operational performance. The Operations Controller will ensure accurate operational reporting and forecasting, while also leading process improvement efforts across the organization. In this role, the Operations Controller will manage systems that guarantee current, accurate, and complete reporting of job costs, overhead, inventory, and physical inventory counts. The position involves overseeing the forecasting process, analyzing trends and patterns to provide recommendations that improve financial operational results. Additionally, the Operations Controller will manage the annual capital expenditures budget for CTG, which includes plant assets across various divisions. The Operations Controller is responsible for ensuring that monthly and annual reconciliations, schedules, and financial reporting on projects under the percentage of completion revenue recognition are completed accurately and timely. This role also involves close collaboration with senior leadership to determine overhead rates for each division, prepare annual budgets for the Board, and create presentations for Board meetings. The Operations Controller will work with senior management and department heads to explore how the finance function can better support their operations, and will also collaborate with outside consultants and internal customers on the implementation of a new ERP system. Monitoring profit performance and other operational metrics is a key responsibility, as is leading continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the cost accounting functions. The Operations Controller may also participate in other functions or special projects as needed, making this a dynamic and multifaceted role within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manages systems for current, accurate, and complete reporting of job costs, overhead, inventory, controls, and physical inventory counts.
  • Manages the forecasting process including analyzing trends and patterns to make recommendations for improved financial operational results.
  • Manages the annual capital expenditures budget for CTG including the plant assets at each division.
  • Ensures monthly and annual reconciliations, schedules, and financial reporting on projects under the percentage of completion revenue recognition.
  • Manages direct reports in the cost accounting roles within the Company.
  • Works closely with senior leadership in determining overhead rates for each division.
  • Works closely with senior leadership in preparing the annual budgets for the Board.
  • Works closely with senior leadership in preparing presentations for the Board.
  • Works closely with senior management and department heads to explore how the finance function can support their operations.
  • Works closely with outside consultants and internal customers on the implementation of a new ERP system.
  • Monitors profit performance and other operational metrics.
  • Leads continuous improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the cost accounting functions.
  • Participates in other functions or special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business with 7 years practical work experience in cost accounting within the manufacturing arena.
  • Experience as a plant controller with a strong operational focus is a plus.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and ERP skills are required.
  • Possesses critical thinking and conflict management skills with a strong process focus.
  • Must be well-organized and able to work under pressure.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPA, MBA, or CMA preferred, not required.
  • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certifications preferred, not required.
