About the position

The Operations Controlling Financial Senior Analyst plays a crucial role in the National Finance & Administration Services department, which is responsible for managing the essential resources and infrastructure that support the company's operations. This position is designed to ensure that both retail divisions and executive leadership receive the necessary support to operate effectively. The analyst will act as a liaison between the National Operations Committee and National Finance groups, facilitating communication and collaboration across various teams, including Buying, Supply Chain, Operations, and Finance. In this role, the analyst will serve as a subject matter expert, providing extensive business and technical analysis tailored to the needs of the National Operations Committee. This includes advising on changes or actions that can enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the team, as well as informing management of recurring issues that may require additional training for the team. The analyst will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing operational and financial KPIs, assisting management with financial planning, margin budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and conducting ad hoc business analysis. The position requires leading complex analyses for the operations team, translating data into actionable outcomes, and defining business improvement projects based on collected data. The analyst will also research and analyze current and past operational activities, expected sales and margin trends, and the potential effects of changes, supporting findings and recommendations to clients. Maintaining data integrity is paramount, and the analyst will take appropriate actions to investigate any discrepancies. Additionally, the role involves building and using various data modeling methods for new reporting initiatives and maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders across different functions. Training and developing team members to foster a motivated workforce is also a key responsibility, along with upholding the security and confidentiality of documents and data within the area of responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a liaison between the National Operations Committee and National Finance groups.
  • Collaborates with other teams such as Buying, Supply Chain, Operations and Finance to answer business questions using analytical approaches.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert by providing extensive business and technical analysis based on National Operations Committee needs.
  • Advises on changes or actions to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the team.
  • Informs management of recurring issues or when additional team training may be required.
  • Reviews and analyzes operation and financial KPIs.
  • Assists management with financial planning, margin budgeting/forecasting, variance analysis and ad hoc business analysis.

  • Assists in training and developing team members to retain a motivated and professional workforce.
  • Collaborates with team members and communicates relevant information to leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Finance or Accounting required.
  • Experience with data modeling, data extraction, analytics and visualization tools such as SQL, Alteryx, and Tableau preferred.
