About the position

The Operations Coordinator at Ponder Environmental Services, Inc. is responsible for overseeing daily workflow, dispatch, compliance, and operations for both shop and field personnel. This role ensures that company and customer expectations are met or exceeded in terms of project execution, operations, and safety. The position involves assisting the Operations Manager and Compliance Manager, managing work assignments, scheduling, and maintaining compliance with environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Operations Manager with all aspects of operations including Safety, Sales, Order fulfillment, and customer service.
  • Provide work assignments to field/shop personnel.
  • Complete daily job scheduling sheet and dispatch log.
  • Communicate with sales department, supervisors, and client representatives to coordinate projects.
  • Track equipment using GPS system and equipment logs.
  • Review and audit daily work orders for accuracy.
  • Collect, review and process daily work orders, payroll data, expense reports, and GoCanvas entries.
  • Assist Compliance Manager with DOT compliance.
  • Work closely with Waste Compliance to determine proper packaging, marking and labeling requirements for storage, transportation, and disposal.
  • Prepare all waste shipping documentation in compliance with RCRA and DOT regulations.
  • Manage inventory according to company standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain records for systematic retention, protection, retrieval, transfer, and disposal.
  • Ensure wastes are properly packaged, labeled, marked, and manifested for transportation in accordance with regulations.
  • Prepare and verify accuracy of all hazardous material and waste shipping documents.
  • Assist and work with crews in the field on projects and emergency responses as necessary.
  • Provide written reports and records required by management on a timely basis.
  • Promote cooperation and good communication with all corporate personnel.
  • Assist Compliance Manager in coordination with regulatory agencies to identify/resolve issues.
  • Assist Safety Director with compliance and safety tasks.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1 - 3 years in environmental services or waste management field.
  • Knowledge of RCRA waste regulations and hazardous material regulations.
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) placard, packaging, and waste transportation regulations.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-starter with ability to develop, implement, and follow written procedures/guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional, QuickBooks, Smart phones and apps.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2- or 4-year technical college degree
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in the field
  • Knowledge of California Title 22 regulations
  • HAZWOPER certification
  • Experience with QuickBooks
