The City of Portland Bureau of Environmental Services (BES) is seeking an Operations Coordinator III to join the newly formed Operations Support Team (OST) within the Operations Division. This position is crucial for leading, overseeing, planning, coordinating, and prioritizing work to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Operations Division, which is responsible for the operation and maintenance of wastewater and stormwater collection and treatment facilities. The Operations Coordinator III will serve as a liaison for the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and asset management, ensuring that staff and management collaborate effectively. In this role, the Operations Coordinator III will lead recruitment, onboarding, and training efforts for new employees, ensuring that training programs are relevant and up-to-date. The position will also involve developing, coordinating, implementing, evaluating, and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency in program delivery. The successful candidate will organize Division documentation to enhance information sharing and oversee the use of internal communication software, analyzing data to identify gaps and coordinate resolutions. Additionally, the Operations Coordinator III will assist in the coordination and oversight of National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits and provide education and training to staff. The role includes providing customer service related to odor complaints, facility tours, and community educational outreach opportunities, as well as monitoring and coordinating needs associated with contracts and interagency agreements.
