About the position

The Operations Coordinator for Marine Personnel is a pivotal role within our client's organization, which is a leader in providing cargo and logistic solutions. This position is based in Garden City, NY, and is designed for an individual who is passionate about maritime operations and personnel management. The successful candidate will work closely with the Crewing Manager to ensure that the fleet is adequately staffed with qualified mariners, both licensed and unlicensed. This role requires a collaborative approach, as the Operations Coordinator will be part of a team that is dedicated to maintaining the operational efficiency of the fleet. In this role, the Operations Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating additional marine personnel requirements as needed, which may include shipyard periods and new build sea trials. The candidate will also develop and maintain comprehensive marine personnel databases, which are essential for tracking staffing needs and personnel qualifications. A key aspect of the position involves assisting the Crewing Manager in proactively identifying marine personnel needs, ensuring that the organization is always prepared to meet operational demands. The Operations Coordinator will also be tasked with maintaining a good working relationship with maritime unions, which is crucial for smooth operations and personnel management. The role includes collecting and analyzing marine personnel-related metrics to inform decision-making and improve staffing processes. Additionally, the Operations Coordinator will complete various tasks as directed by the Crewing Manager and support the vessel operations department as needed. Responsibilities

  • Work in a team environment to ensure the fleet is properly staffed.
  • Coordinate additional marine personnel requirements as needed, such as shipyard periods and new build sea trials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably from a Maritime Academy.
  • Previous Marine Personnel/Crew experience, US Flag preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable utilizing various crewing/software databases.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the US, no visa or sponsorship at this time.
