About the position

The Operations Coordinator serves as the primary action officer for installation operational staff actions as directed by the Chief of the Operations and Plans Branch. This role is critical in the development and execution of various operational documents, including Memorandums of Instruction, Operations Orders (OPORDs), and Memorandums of Agreements for the organization. The Operations Coordinator actively participates in the Installation Support and Coordination Meeting, providing essential input regarding USAG Fort Drum's capabilities and limitations in supporting units. This position also involves representing the Operations and Plans Branch at meetings and in the Division and HQs concerning plans or operational issues as directed. In addition to these responsibilities, the Operations Coordinator is tasked with facilitating timely data collection and input to ensure accurate reporting of Installation Readiness. The role also includes assisting in identifying and coordinating training support requirements for installation support of Active Component (AC) US and Canadian units. The incumbent must be prepared to work under various conditions, including emergency situations, and may be required to work 12-hour shifts during deployments, redeployments, or other contingency operations. This position is designated as "Mission Essential," meaning that the incumbent must be available during severe weather conditions or other emergencies. The position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance, and the incumbent will be evaluated based on competencies such as oral communication, planning and evaluating, technical competence, and workforce planning. The role is essential for ensuring that the installation's operational capabilities are effectively managed and communicated, contributing to the overall mission success of the Department of Defense.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as primary action officer for installation operational staff actions as directed by the Chief, Operations and Plans Branch.
  • Participates in the development and execution of Memorandums of Instruction, Operations Orders (OPORDs), and/or Memorandums of Agreements for the organization.
  • Participates in the Installation Support and Coordination Meeting and provides critical input on USAG Fort Drum's capabilities and limitations on supporting units.
  • Represents the Operations and Plans Branch at meetings and in the Division, HQs involving plans or operational issues as directed.
  • Responsible for the facilitation of timely data collection and input ensuring that Installation Readiness is accurately reported.
  • Assists in the identification and coordination for training support requirements for installation support of Active Component (AC) US and Canadian units.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience in planning and/or managing operations on mobilizations/contingencies support for an organization.
  • Experience in holding briefings concerning an organization's readiness.
  • Experience in identifying training support requirements for military operations and producing Memorandum of Agreements (MOA) concerning activities such as deployment operations, ceremonies, and training events.
  • Master's or equivalent graduate degree in Organizational Management and Leadership, Public Administration, Business Administration, or Management, or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree.
  • A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position.
