This position is crucial as it assumes responsibility for patient plans of care, providing and managing care to individuals and cohorts of patients within a unit. The role involves designing, implementing, and evaluating nursing interventions by coordinating, delegating, and supervising the care provided by the healthcare team, which includes licensed nurses, patient care technicians, and other health professionals. Additionally, the position facilitates effective and efficient discharge planning, ensuring that patients receive the best possible care throughout their stay. The individual in this role will serve as a significant communication link between the Unit Director, staff, patients, physicians, and other stakeholders. They will act as a resource for staff regarding patient care assessment and the planning and evaluation of nursing interventions. This includes facilitating problem resolution and collaborating with the Unit Director and other supervisory staff to assess the quality of care provided, identify staff strengths and weaknesses, and evaluate staff performance. The position also requires the individual to assume responsibility for the cost-effective and efficient use of human, environmental, and material resources, ensuring that the unit operates smoothly and effectively. In this dynamic and fast-paced environment, the successful candidate will utilize their strong analytical skills and excellent interpersonal abilities to manage and develop employees, coordinate clinical operations, and communicate critical issues to appropriate parties. Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility for patient plans of care.
  • Provide and manage care to individuals and cohorts of patients within a unit.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions by coordinating, delegating, and supervising the care provided by the healthcare team.
  • Facilitate effective and efficient discharge planning.
  • Serve as a communication link between Unit Director, staff, patients, physicians, and others.

Requirements

  • Registered nurse diploma required.
  • Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required.
  • 2 years of relevant experience working in a fast-paced, stressful environment required.
  • Associate's degree in nursing preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills.
