About the position

The Operations Coordinator for Respiratory Care at Memorial Hermann Health System is responsible for clinical leadership and management of service lines related to respiratory care. This role involves program development, performance improvement, clinical quality monitoring, and fostering positive relationships with physicians. The coordinator will oversee the daily operations of the Respiratory Care department, ensuring effective communication, staffing, and quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily operations and staff of the Respiratory Care department.
  • Provide leadership in the absence of the department director or manager.
  • Ensure flow of communication between staff and department leadership.
  • Assist with maintaining department supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with preparing the department schedule and ensure appropriate staffing.
  • Prepare and distribute shift assignments.
  • Monitor staff performance and assist with re-direction and education.
  • Mentor, lead, and train lesser experienced practitioners.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and managing new programs/policies.
  • Refine existing programs/policies to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Monitor and manage the clinical quality for selected services, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
  • Provide expert respiratory advice and recommendations to physicians and other staff for populations served.
  • Perform duties to promote quality, patient care, and customer service, while promoting patient safety and cost efficiency.
  • Perform Respiratory Care quality assurance problem-solving and take appropriate action.
  • Execute new product and equipment evaluation process; participate in the evaluation of new equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with professional colleagues; manage time effectively; document appropriately in the electronic medical record and complete all required documentation accurately.
  • Consider the diverse needs of each patient through the entire continuum of care, providing and ensuring the highest level of service according to established service standards, optimizing the patient experience.
  • Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors; adhere to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service.
  • Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; support department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serve as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Respiratory Care, required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Current State of Texas RCP license.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist.
  • Certified in Basic Life Support.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience with five (5) years of critical care experience.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Additional specialty certification from the NBRC, preferred.
