About the position

The Operations Coordinator for Respiratory Care is responsible for clinical leadership and management of service lines within the department, focusing on program development, performance improvement, and clinical quality monitoring. This role ensures effective communication between staff and leadership, supervises daily operations, and provides expert respiratory advice to physicians and staff, particularly in critical care settings.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily operations and staff of the Respiratory Care department.
  • Provide leadership in the absence of the department director or manager.
  • Ensure flow of communication between staff and department leadership.
  • Assist with maintaining department supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with preparing the department schedule and ensure appropriate staffing.
  • Prepare and distribute shift assignments.
  • Monitor staff performance and assist with re-direction and education.
  • Mentor, lead, and train lesser experienced practitioners.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and managing new programs/policies.
  • Refine existing programs/policies to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Monitor and manage clinical quality for selected services, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
  • Provide expert respiratory advice and recommendations to physicians and other staff for populations served.
  • Perform duties to promote quality, patient care, and customer service while ensuring patient safety and cost efficiency.
  • Execute new product and equipment evaluation processes; participate in the evaluation of new equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with professional colleagues; manage time effectively; document appropriately in the electronic medical record.
  • Consider the diverse needs of each patient through the entire continuum of care, providing and ensuring the highest level of service according to established service standards.
  • Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors; adhere to all policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications.
  • Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Respiratory Care, required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Current State of Texas RCP license.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist certification.
  • Certified in Basic Life Support.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience with five (5) years of critical care experience.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Additional specialty certification from the NBRC, preferred.
