About the position

The Operations Coordinator for Science Stores at the University of Oregon plays a vital role in managing the procurement, inventory control, and operational processes of the Science Stores, which support academic researchers and local industrial partners. This position involves overseeing financial transactions, maintaining inventory levels, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing guidance to students and faculty. The Coordinator will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure efficient store operations and contribute to special projects as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate financial, operational, and logistical processes related to the procurement of supplies and equipment.
  • Place orders, pay invoices, and maintain financial records.
  • Monitor inventory levels and oversee storage while ensuring compliance with hazardous waste and chemical control regulations.
  • Oversee store operations, including space and records management, student employee hiring, onboarding, and supervision.
  • Provide guidance to students, internal and external customers, and faculty regarding operational and logistical areas.
  • Interact frequently with faculty, students, staff, and external customers to support store operations.

Requirements

  • Experience performing stores and inventory work.
  • Training or experience providing knowledge of inventory control systems and shipping methods.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and solve problems effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Three years of office and/or warehouse experience in STEM industries.
  • Lead work and/or supervisory experience.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment.
