About the position

The Operations Coordinator at Memorial Hermann is responsible for overseeing the clinical leadership and management of respiratory care services. This role involves program development, performance improvement, clinical quality monitoring, and fostering positive relationships with physicians. The coordinator will also provide guidance and support to staff, ensuring high-quality care for patients with respiratory disorders, particularly in critical care settings.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily operations and staff of the Respiratory Care department.
  • Provide leadership in the absence of the department director or manager.
  • Ensure effective communication between staff and department leadership.
  • Assist with maintaining department supplies and equipment.
  • Prepare the department schedule and ensure appropriate staffing.
  • Prepare and distribute shift assignments.
  • Monitor staff performance and assist with re-direction and education.
  • Mentor, lead, and train lesser experienced practitioners.
  • Develop, implement, and manage new programs/policies; refine existing programs/policies for optimal patient outcomes.
  • Monitor and manage clinical quality for selected services, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
  • Provide expert respiratory advice and recommendations to physicians and other staff.
  • Perform duties to promote quality patient care and customer service, ensuring patient safety and cost efficiency.
  • Execute new product and equipment evaluation processes; participate in the evaluation of new equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with professional colleagues; manage time effectively and document appropriately in the electronic medical record.
  • Consider the diverse needs of each patient through the entire continuum of care, optimizing the patient experience.
  • Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors; adhere to all policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications.
  • Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for continuing education and skills competency; serve as preceptor and mentor to less experienced staff.
  • Demonstrate commitment to caring for every member of the community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Respiratory Care, required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Current State of Texas RCP license.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist certification.
  • Certified in Basic Life Support.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience with five (5) years of critical care experience.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Additional specialty certification from the NBRC, preferred.
