The UCSF California Preterm Birth Initiative (PTBi-CA) is a multi-year, transdisciplinary research effort aimed at reducing the burden of prematurity among women and birthing people of color who are at the highest risk for preterm birth. This initiative recognizes the significant impact of 'place' as a determinant of health and wellbeing, particularly concerning the risk of preterm birth. PTBi-CA adopts a place-based approach, focusing its efforts in communities affected by these issues in San Francisco, Oakland, and Fresno. The initiative collaborates with academic researchers from various disciplines, healthcare providers, public health departments, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders to work in partnership with affected communities. A key aspect of this work is the involvement of women with lived experience throughout all phases of the research process, including the development and prioritization of the research agenda, enhancing study designs for cultural appropriateness, and ensuring the dissemination of results to a broad audience of stakeholders. The Operations Coordinator will play a vital role in administering daily operations and providing overall project coordination for several projects within the PTBi-CA. This position is responsible for offering research, operations/fiscal, events, writing, and administrative support for multiple studies and programs. The Operations Coordinator will be an integral part of a professional team dedicated to advancing birth justice and ensuring the smooth flow of work while meeting all administrative needs of the unit. Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Operations Coordinator will also engage in special projects or assignments, exercising sound judgment in selecting optimal methods and techniques to achieve desired results. The successful candidate will be adept at balancing numerous deadlines and shifting priorities, demonstrating creativity and strong teamwork skills. The ideal candidate will be passionate about racial equity and birth justice, contributing to a multicultural, anti-racist organization focused on addressing racial disparities in maternal and infant health outcomes, particularly anti-Blackness. The Operations Coordinator will have the opportunity to collaborate directly with birth equity leaders, researchers, and community experts who are at the forefront of efforts to tackle these disparities in maternal and child health outcomes.
