About the position

The Operations Coordinator at Dayton Public Schools plays a crucial role in ensuring the maintenance and operational excellence of school facilities. This position involves overseeing various logistical operations, coordinating maintenance activities, and leading custodial and maintenance personnel to provide a safe and clean environment for students and staff. The Operations Coordinator collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to enhance facility utilization and implement new programs, ensuring compliance with legal and district requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in overseeing the maintenance of physical school facilities to ensure cleanliness and safety.
  • Coordinate logistical operations for timely delivery of materials and furniture.
  • Lead departments including maintenance, logistics, and custodial personnel.
  • Train and coach custodians to enhance their performance.
  • Collaborate with internal and external personnel to coordinate activities and resolve issues.
  • Manage assigned program responsibilities related to site improvement and safety compliance.
  • Participate in meetings and workshops to gather and convey information.
  • Perform personnel administrative functions such as interviewing and training staff.
  • Conduct facility inspections and log findings into FMX software.
  • Prepare various written materials including contracts and reports related to facility maintenance.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in urban planning, engineering, architecture, business administration, public administration, or a related field.
  • Three years of professional experience in grounds, custodial, maintenance, and construction.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience in public organization maintenance and operations.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of laws, codes, and regulations related to school maintenance and operations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with facility utilization and site repairs/construction.
  • Familiarity with HVAC and electrical systems.
  • Ability to analyze technical information and write reports.
