About the position

The Operations Coordinator at the University of Maryland is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing all aspects of study abroad student enrollment services. This includes managing processes such as registration, billing, course scheduling, and grade reporting. The Coordinator will work closely with the Office of Student Financial Services and Cashiering, as well as the Registrar's Office, to ensure smooth operations and maintain effective communication across departments. This position is essential in supporting Education Abroad (EA) advisors and program managers by providing accurate and timely enrollment and billing services, which are central to the operations of the EA program. In this role, the Coordinator must have a thorough understanding of academic policies and regulations, particularly those enforced by the Registrar's Office and the Office of Student Financial Services and Cashiering. The incumbent is expected to deliver excellent customer service to various stakeholders, including students, faculty, and staff, through clear communication, comprehensive timelines, and prompt resolution of any issues that may arise. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of study abroad student enrollment services, including registration, billing, course scheduling, and grade reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Student Financial Services and Cashiering and the Registrar's Office to maintain effective communication and operations.
  • Support Education Abroad advisors and program managers through accurate and timely enrollment and billing processes.
  • Ensure adherence to academic policies and regulations as governed by the Registrar's Office and the Office of Student Financial Services and Cashiering.
  • Provide excellent customer service to students and staff/faculty across campus through clear communication and timely issue resolution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years of administrative experience.
  • Experience building and maintaining key relationships with internal partners.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets.
  • Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues efficiently.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience working in university administration.
  • Previous experience working with a student information system.
  • Familiarity with applicable federal and state laws and policies relating to student data and records management.
  • Demonstrated system-level thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology to gather, interpret, analyze, and present data.
