About the position

The Leidos Defense Group is seeking an experienced Operations Cybersecurity Analyst to support a Department of Defense (DoD) organization. This role requires a high-energy, well-organized, detail-oriented, and forward-thinking individual with executive-level experience and familiarity with DoD Cybersecurity standards and policies. The successful candidate will be expected to function both independently and as part of a team, providing essential cybersecurity support in alignment with the DoD Chief Information Officer's (CIO) cybersecurity strategic initiatives. This includes the development of key policies and the synchronization of activities across various DoD components. In this position, the Operations Cybersecurity Analyst will coordinate the documentation of policies and processes with other departments and the Cybersecurity organization. The role involves enabling and provisioning strategic planning sessions aimed at recognizing and ranking cybersecurity initiatives. The analyst will gather information from other agencies, including USCYBERCOM and external sponsors, to develop cybersecurity products for departmental review and approval. Additionally, the analyst will research and advise DoD leaders and the Cybersecurity department on opportunities to advance cybersecurity, shaping the future of DoD Cybersecurity policies and operations. The responsibilities also include gathering and assimilating security initiatives to enhance architecture and engineering activities that improve operational activities. The candidate will identify opportunities to adopt security protocols that enhance the reliability of DoD security and reduce vulnerabilities. Collaboration with the DoD CIO organization will be essential in formulating engineering designs, systems requirements, concept of operations, and architecture designs to support Cybersecurity strategic goals. Furthermore, this role will support the validation and verification of DoD CIO security controls.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, manage, and oversee operations to achieve strategic goals and objectives.
  • Provide thorough reviews of all department policy directives and identify those in need of updating.
  • Provide reviews for various DoD policy documents including policies, manuals, and SOPs.
  • Review existing policies to determine which documents need archiving or updating.
  • Lead the assessment of the DoD's current cyber policies, coverage of those policies, and areas of risks.
  • Evaluate how policies stack up to regulations, best practices, and industry standards.
  • Guide clients through understanding acceptable risk and availability, advancing the development of a strategic cyber roadmap.
  • Work in a consultative role to ensure clients operate securely in an evolving IT environment.
  • Research current cybersecurity policies and procedures.
  • Brief senior leaders on cybersecurity matters.
  • Provide proactive, timely problem-solving solutions to benefit the DoD cybersecurity posture.

Requirements

  • Cyber Security Certification (CISSP, CISM, or similar).
  • 8+ years of experience in Cybersecurity disciplines.
  • Experience in cybersecurity policy at the DoD levels.
  • Experience with staff coordination across the DoD components.
  • Operationally oriented with the ability to multitask and prioritize work in a high-volume environment.
  • Team player with a positive and professional demeanor, strong customer service awareness, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Flexible and forward-leaning regarding operations and planning.
  • Agility with task management, coordination, and execution.
  • Solid knowledge of MS Office suite, especially with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to multitask and execute directives effectively with little supervision.
  • Ability to share information and guide activities productively.
  • Superior presentation skills.
  • Experience interacting with Government officials and senior military personnel.
  • Confident and self-motivated with a positive can-do attitude.
