About the position

The Department Director is responsible for the overall management direction of the assigned department, ensuring that all operations align with the company's strategic goals. This role involves creating an annual business plan that outlines a unit operational budget designed to support the revenue and profitability objectives of the company. The Department Director will direct the team and oversee business operations within the assigned divisions, ensuring that company goals are met effectively and efficiently. In this position, the director will be responsible for directing and assigning resources, managing workloads, and scheduling tasks to ensure timely deliverables. A key aspect of the role includes overseeing employee recruitment and performance evaluation activities, fostering positive relationships with both staff and customers. The director will also develop the department's annual budget, evaluate departmental performance, and devise new strategies for performance improvements. Additionally, the Department Director will be tasked with resolving business issues and ensuring that all escalated issues are addressed and closed. The role requires the development and enforcement of best practices to enhance operational efficiency, as well as the identification of areas for improvement and the creation of corresponding action plans.

Responsibilities

  • Create an annual business plan that provides a unit operational budget that supports the revenue and profitability goals of the Company
  • Direct team and overall business operations in assigned divisions to achieve company goals
  • Direct and assign resources, workloads and manage schedules to ensure timely deliverables
  • Oversee employee recruitment and performance evaluation activities of staff
  • Drive positive relationships with the staff and customer base
  • Develop department's annual budget
  • Evaluate department performance and develop new strategies for performance improvements
  • Resolve business issues and ensure that all escalated issues are closed
  • Develop and enforce best practices to ensure operational efficiency
  • Identify areas of improvements and concerns and accordingly develop action plans

Requirements

  • A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Ability to lead, coach, and develop team members
  • Holds self and others accountable to achieving goals and standards
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
  • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers
