About the position

The Operations Director is a pivotal role responsible for the effective management of warehouse operations at MSI, located in Kent, WA. This position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including overseeing shipment performance, managing productivity, and directly supervising a team of over 50 employees in a 200,000 square foot facility. The Operations Director will ensure that all shifts and functions are adequately staffed to handle varying work volumes, optimizing the flow of orders to the floor to enhance operational efficiency. In this role, the Operations Director will develop, maintain, and manage the facility's quality processes, ensuring that on-time shipping performance is met. This involves close collaboration with employees, delivery drivers, and Foremen to ensure that all receipts and shipments adhere to established standards. The director will also be responsible for managing daily, weekly, and monthly quality and productivity reporting, as well as supervising realignment activities to maximize facility optimization. The Operations Director will provide direct supervision to the Foreman, holding them accountable for their performance and that of their teams. Leadership, training, and supervision of over 50 team members will be a key focus, with an emphasis on increasing the leadership capabilities of the team and driving professional growth. Additionally, the director will oversee all facility and equipment maintenance, ensuring a safe working environment and compliance with safety regulations. This position requires a proactive approach to managing operational activities, ensuring that the distribution center layout and continuous improvement initiatives align with the operational goals. The Operations Director will also perform additional duties as required or requested, contributing to the overall success of the warehouse operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage warehouse operations effectively, ensuring optimal staffing and order flow.
  • Develop and maintain facility quality processes to ensure high standards.
  • Ensure on-time shipping performance through collaboration with team members and delivery drivers.
  • Manage quality and productivity reporting on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Supervise realignment activities for maximum facility optimization.
  • Provide direct supervision to Foreman and hold them accountable for team performance.
  • Lead, train, and supervise over 50 team members, fostering professional growth.
  • Oversee facility and equipment maintenance, ensuring safety compliance.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and oversee safety protocols.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Requirements

  • Must have supervised at least 50+ team members.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Distribution Center Operations experience.
  • Familiarity with mobile devices in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Related industry experience in natural stone, tile, or hard flooring preferred.
  • Capable of presenting operational data to business and leadership teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive cultural change while improving efficiencies and processes.
  • Strong knowledge of Distribution and Warehouse Management applications.
  • Bachelor's degree and/or college coursework preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory/management experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership and managerial abilities.
  • Goal-oriented with a proven record of self-motivation and achievements.
  • Strong analytical skills and proactive problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent people management and time management skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs.
  • Proactive and able to manage ambiguity effectively.
