About the position

The Operations Director at Akima, LLC is responsible for providing operational management and support for protective and emergency services across Akima's operating companies. This role involves close collaboration with federal customers and internal teams to ensure outstanding operational and financial performance, while also supporting company growth objectives in the law enforcement and security sectors. The position requires travel and may involve extended stays at project locations to facilitate contract transitions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop standard operating procedures and post orders aligned with contractual requirements.
  • Establish close working relationships with site-level clients.
  • Provide transition management duties for new contract phase-ins.
  • Offer on-site specific problem solving and support.
  • Support financial performance of contracts to achieve the highest possible net income.
  • Work closely with project management staff to implement methods for increased efficiencies and staffing models.
  • Identify opportunities for overhead cost reductions in equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Support business development and capture efforts with technical inputs and customer visits.
  • Monitor and manage subcontractor/vendor performance for assigned projects.
  • Ensure adherence to company and operational requirements and policies at the project level.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for new business capture and proposal development activities.

Requirements

  • At least 15 years of experience in protective services and emergency management at a senior operational level.
  • Formal law enforcement training.
  • 10 years of experience managing budgets of at least $10 million per year.
  • Experience developing policy and standards for security operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; Master's preferred; law enforcement experience can substitute for a college degree.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain US Federal Government Q or Top-Secret clearance.
  • Strong analytical, planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Superb interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office applications.
