About the position

The Operations Director at Boys & Girls Clubs of Story County is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the strategic plan and managing daily operations to ensure high-quality program delivery and positive youth development outcomes. This role involves collaboration with the CEO, leadership of staff, compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, and management of the organizational budget.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the implementation and delivery of business and program operations, services, and activities that facilitate achievement of safe, positive Youth Development Outcomes.
  • Coordinate the implementation of the ARPA project and partnership with Story County to ensure all deliverables are met.
  • Oversee the identification and evaluation of opportunities to improve program quality and effectiveness based on participation and achievement of stated goals; recommend modifications to improve program performance as appropriate.
  • Monitor and report variances in revenues and expenditures.
  • Develop, train, and implement organizational policies and procedures.
  • Manage administrative, development, and operational team and processes.
  • Manage performance of assigned staff in achieving goals, providing technical assistance in program design, development, and operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all affiliation, safety, regulatory, and legal requirements.
  • Support board committees, as assigned.
  • Lead strategic community partnerships.
  • Assist in the administration of restricted programs by overseeing program operations at each location; ensure the completion of required reports and preparation of any required interagency reports.
  • Manage Club vehicle fleet and buildings and grounds care.
  • Model Club values and lead by example.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of five years' work experience in non-profit agency operations management and supervision, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, direct, and coordinate operations, and develop and implement policies and procedures.
  • Experience in personnel supervision, recruitment, and retention of key personnel.
  • Knowledge of facilities management and budget management.
  • Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of non-profit organizations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and/or G-Suite; ability to learn new technology as needed.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Club staff, subordinates, Board members, community groups, and other related agencies.
  • Ability to pass background and reference checks.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain an Iowa driver's license with passenger endorsement.
