About the position

The Operations Director is accountable for the overall success of JLL data center operations for the Client account, managing resources to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the data center portfolio, maximizing up-time and site efficiencies. This position reports to the Group Account Director. The role involves providing leadership and expertise in the management of all aspects of operations and critical environments, including client service, employee management and development, financial oversight, and operational execution. The Operations Director is responsible for interpreting, communicating, and establishing engineering services and critical environments management strategies to support the Client account. This includes ensuring the integration of all services and that they are delivered within agreed service levels. The Operations Director will also provide oversight in all processes and field execution, promoting and fostering relationships while serving as the key services liaison for the client. In day-to-day operations, the Director will manage all client engineering services management activities, ensuring total contract compliance with all criteria and reaching all performance specifications, including quantitative cost savings and qualitative customer service specifications. The role requires managing client reporting and ensuring contractual compliance, as well as achieving fixed, variable, and incentive compensation under the contract relative to Corporate Real Estate Performance Plan and other objectives. The Operations Director is accountable for the performance of the assigned team and the delivery of services within stated service levels, processes, and procedures to achieve performance goals and objectives. The position also involves reviewing metrics through analytics or other tools provided by the Client and JLL to ensure that the portfolio is managed within goal parameters. The Director will measure, monitor, and report to Executive Leaders on cost savings and value add contributions of the team, provide input and support to strategic planning initiatives, and work with the Account Director to identify portfolio and saving reduction opportunities. Additionally, the Operations Director will interface, collaborate, and develop strong relationships with all stakeholders, ensuring accurate and timely updates to all Client and JLL systems support tools. The role includes managing suppliers and direct reports, effectively utilizing resources for the delivery of maintenance and repair services in support of critical environments, and developing a succession planning program.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 5+ years operational experience with responsibility for leading teams in a data center environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in managing people and customers.
  • Strong oral and written communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.

  • Fundamental skills in critical systems such as emergency/stand-by generators, automatic transfer switches, UPS systems, and power distribution systems.
  • Technically proficient in operations of Building Management Systems, Life Safety Systems, CMMS, and Microsoft Office software.
  • Extensive electrical, mechanical & plumbing knowledge of commercial facilities with a strong background in critical data center operations.
  • Proven record of providing excellent internal and external customer service.
