About the position

The position involves designing the next generation of world-class fulfillment centers and logistics systems globally. The role requires a high level of ownership in solving complex problems and designing systems that utilize advanced automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and robotics. The engineer will collaborate with internal and external teams to create high-quality, cost-effective solutions for fulfillment and distribution systems, managing multiple projects from concept to design approval and supporting the installation and commissioning of these systems.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to design fulfillment and distribution systems.
  • Own multiple engineering design projects from concept realization through design approval.
  • Act as the primary technical contact for suppliers on assigned projects.
  • Support the Ops Engineering team during the installation and commissioning of designed systems.
  • Work on a variety of projects including green-fields, brown-fields, and retrofits.
  • Design fulfillment centers, cross-dock facilities, specialty facilities, and transportation centers across North America and Europe.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field, or 2+ years of Amazon experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Design/Innovation Engineering, Manufacturing/Process/Industrial Engineering, or related fields.
  • Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, robotics, and/or high-speed manufacturing.
  • Proven ownership/management of engineering design projects.
  • Proficiency in business/technical software such as MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software.
  • Ability to travel 20% globally.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Engineering or related field, Operations, Business Administration, or a related field with at least five years of experience.
  • Experience with process design based on Lean Principles.
  • Proficiency in system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analysis, statistical analysis, reliability analysis, and decision making.
  • Design-in-Safety experience.
