About the position

The Operations Engineering Technician at Chugach Government Solutions (CGS) plays a crucial role in overseeing the life cycle performance and assessing the condition of all built and natural infrastructure assets. This position is essential for ensuring that facilities and equipment are maintained to the highest standards, contributing to the overall mission of the organization. The technician will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including the estimation of project costs, managing warranty programs, and developing operations and maintenance manuals. A key aspect of the role involves identifying and documenting the current conditions and deficiencies of facilities and equipment, and recommending corrective actions along with cost estimates for improvements. In addition to these responsibilities, the Operations Engineering Technician will develop and maintain processes to analyze electrical consumption, which is vital for demand management analysis and implementing corrective measures. The technician will also incorporate existing Facility Condition Assessment Data into their evaluations and provide timely, detailed reports and accurate data sheets for each facility or asset. Utilizing mobile technology to document components encountered during assessments is another critical function of this role, ensuring that all findings are justified and well-documented. The technician will ensure that asset condition data is collected in authorized IT systems, such as IWIMS, ACERP, ACESPM, BUILDER, and NexGen, making it accessible for activity assets. Furthermore, the technician will review Statements of Work (SOW), contract specifications, and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for facilities electrical construction and repair projects, ensuring that the government receives high-performing, warrantied products. Assessing government facilities using professional expertise and judgment to determine their physical condition and compliance with specifications and building codes is also a key responsibility. The role requires strong organizational skills to manage both hard copy and electronic documents effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the life cycle performance and condition assessment of built and natural infrastructure assets.
  • Responsible for estimation, warranty program, and operations and maintenance manual program.
  • Identify and document current facility and equipment conditions and deficiencies.
  • Recommend corrective actions for deficiencies, including cost estimates and improvements.
  • Develop and maintain processes to analyze electrical consumption for demand management analysis.
  • Incorporate pre-existing Facility Condition Assessment Data into evaluations.
  • Provide timely and detailed reports and accurate data sheets for each facility/asset.
  • Use mobile technology to document components during assessments and justify physical condition determinations.
  • Ensure asset condition data is collected in authorized IT systems and is accessible for activity assets.
  • Review SOW, contract specifications, and RFPs for facilities electrical construction/repair projects.
  • Perform assessments of government facilities to determine physical condition and compliance with specifications and building codes.
  • Organize and file hard copy and electronic folders and documents.

Requirements

  • Minimum ten years' experience as Engineering Technician surveying, scheduling, planning, scoping, estimating, and quality control on various types of construction projects.
  • Experience with maintenance, repair, and engineering facility experience related to the specific Activity Management Plan (AMP).
  • Completion of WMGT 331, 341, 417 and 422 and WENG 200 and 400 training courses.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a Secret Security clearance.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain government identification/common access card.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • Valid state Driver's License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.
  • Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain access to U.S. Government Installations through the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS).
