About the position

The Operations Engineering Manager for Project Development & Execution at Amcor Rigid Packaging is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of capital projects across various locations. This role involves managing growth and cost reduction initiatives from conception to completion, ensuring productivity, adherence to timelines, and budget management. The position also includes leading a team of Program Managers focused on manufacturing program management, particularly in areas such as safety, injection molding, and packaging systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support new machine installations and infrastructure initiatives.
• Communicate and resolve technical, timing, and budgetary issues related to projects.
• Publish regular project status and monthly spending reports.
• Support engineering-related inquiries from plants.
• Collaborate with plant and operations leaders to execute projects successfully.
• Work with various departments to develop and implement manufacturing solutions.
• Lead discussions with vendors and contractors to meet project deliverables.
• Ensure engineering design standards are followed for capital projects.
• Evaluate downstream packaging capabilities for container handling.
• Analyze capabilities and limitations of new or existing equipment.
• Develop capital costs, timing, and risks for production strategies.
• Collaborate with the Capital Procurement Team for equipment purchases.
• Ensure vendors adhere to safety standards and performance expectations.
• Cultivate a high-performance and compliant safety environment.
• Manage a team of direct reports, focusing on development and performance management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or related Discipline
• 7-10 years of experience in the PET industry in Project Management or Engineering leadership roles
• Experience managing complex projects with budgets over $5 million
• 10 years of engineering experience in the plastics packaging industry
• Strong knowledge of blow molding machinery and tooling equipment
• Proven experience managing multiple resources and complex projects concurrently
• Strong interpersonal skills for communicating technical information
• 5+ years of experience managing direct reports in a technical environment
