This position is accountable for providing accurate inventory costing. The Operations Finance Analyst will be responsible for providing timely and value-added analysis to decision makers in USG's Operations Finance organization as well as other groups. The role involves dealing with absorbed and actual costs, and understanding and communicating all variances. The analyst will assist in cross-functional teams regarding all factors that comprise absorbed cost analysis. Additionally, the position will require effective communication and fostering relationships between Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and the Finance organizations in all matters pertaining to inventory costing and general plant reporting. The analyst will provide accurate inventory costing by setting up, analyzing, and updating Cost Centers. They will also maintain, analyze, and update resource usage rates, overhead, and resource cost rates. Understanding and explaining key variance drivers to support updates is crucial. The analyst will actively identify ways to improve inventory costing processes and accuracy, and effectively communicate with Regional FP&A and other groups to identify costs that may need to be accounted for in absorbed costs. Handling and resolving cost-related errors will also be part of the responsibilities. In addition to providing timely and value-added analysis, the analyst will demonstrate a solid understanding of the cost drivers and factors influencing absorbed versus actual cost in order to provide value-added explanations for cost variances. The role will also involve ad-hoc analysis and participation in cross-functional teams, as well as maintaining and supporting the Cost Book.
