About the position

Penske Logistics is seeking a proven leader with relevant experience and skills to join our team of logistics professionals as an Operations Inventory Supervisor. This role is critical in providing operational leadership at one of our warehousing operations, ensuring that customer requirements are met while achieving Penske's goals and objectives. The Operations Supervisor will oversee daily tasks and activities, including loading and unloading of trailers, cross-docking, and customer service operations, all while maintaining a focus on cost objectives and service quality. In this position, the Operations Supervisor will be responsible for supervising most processes directly, including workforce and equipment scheduling. This includes making corrective action and disciplinary decisions up to the written warning level, as well as being involved in the hiring process and customer meetings as necessary. The role requires a strong commitment to performance standards, ensuring that all supervisors and associates are trained and competent in their roles, and that their work aligns with customer business objectives. The Operations Supervisor will also be eligible for bonuses based on their performance and the performance of their location, with potential earnings of up to 12% of their base salary for Max Performance. The position requires flexibility in working hours, particularly during peak seasons and holidays, and may require working off-shift as needed. The salary range for this position is between $65,000 and $70,000, reflecting the importance of this leadership role in our logistics operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational leadership to individual contributors and hourly workforce to ensure the execution of daily tasks and activities.
  • Supervise logistics operations including customer service, freight loading and unloading, dispatch and proper documentation and procedure control.
  • Conduct team meetings and evaluate preferred work methods to increase productivity of warehouse operations.
  • Monitor attendance, productivity, and other performance standards and provide coaching and counseling to associates.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures such as inventory accuracy and control, returns, damages, etc.
  • Ensure day-to-day management and associate activities are in alignment with the location safety strategy.
  • Understand the location-specific customer goals & objectives and work to meet and exceed these expectations daily.
  • Properly plan work assignments to ensure effective use of warehouse equipment.

Requirements

  • 2 - 4 years related functional experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Strong written/oral communication skills and the ability to actively listen
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ownership & responsibility to run the operation with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to connect and build rapport/relationships with associates and external customers at all levels
  • Ability to work efficiently with time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage through a problem and think and make decisions independently
  • Ability to drive process improvement and lead change
  • Experience with inventory management system preferred
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
