About the position

The Operations IT Support role at Prysmian Group focuses on providing help desk support for iSeries applications and managing tape backups. This position requires effective communication with users via phone, email, or Microsoft Teams to resolve various technical issues. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the iSeries IPL (Initial Program Load) on a monthly basis and organizing all onsite and offsite tape logs, which include daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly records. Additionally, the role involves managing offsite tape storage in collaboration with Iron Mountain, monitoring and updating IBM tape libraries, and maintaining an accurate tape inventory. The candidate will also be tasked with data center alarm monitoring, which includes overseeing water detection systems, UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), and fire suppression systems. This position is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of IT services within the organization, and it requires a detail-oriented individual who can manage multiple tasks effectively. Responsibilities

  • Provide help desk support for iSeries applications and tape backups.
  • Communicate with users via phone, email, or Microsoft Teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Perform iSeries IPL maintenance once a month.
  • Organize onsite and offsite tape logs on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis.
  • Manage offsite tape storage with Iron Mountain.
  • Monitor and update IBM tape libraries and maintain tape inventory.
  • Conduct data center alarm monitoring, including water detection, UPS, and fire suppression.

Requirements

  • Under 1 year of experience in help desk support.
  • Experience with IBM iSeries as an Admin or Operator.
  • Familiarity with IBM Green Screen.
  • Knowledge of tape library backup systems and restoring data as needed.
  • Experience with help desk level 1 ticketing systems.
  • Ability to manage and escalate trouble tickets as necessary.
  • Strong inventory management and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Service-Now ticketing system.
  • Familiarity with data center operations and alarm monitoring.
