About the position

The Operations Lead & Associate Residency Coordinator plays a crucial role in the management and coordination of educational programs within the Department of Pediatrics at the University of California - Los Angeles Health. This position serves as the program coordinator for various educational initiatives, partnering closely with faculty to ensure effective operational and financial management of these programs. The primary goal is to create an optimal training environment for learners, which involves a comprehensive approach to programmatic activities. The responsibilities of this role encompass a wide range of tasks, including the design, promotion, evaluation, and support of educational programs in alignment with organizational objectives. The coordinator will support learners in critical areas such as curriculum development, teaching and learning activities, scheduling, core competencies, assessments, and evaluations. Additionally, the Operations Lead will coordinate all activities related to the ongoing administration of the educational programs and initiatives, ensuring compliance with relevant rules and regulations governing training experiences. Key duties include leading the operations of the Medical Education office, acting as a liaison for any personnel or HR needs of trainees, and managing various educational experiences for residents. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt to changing conditions while maintaining a focus on the educational mission of the department.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the program coordinator for educational programs and initiatives.
  • Partner with faculty in operational and financial management of the programs.
  • Design, conduct, promote, evaluate, and support educational programs in compliance with organizational objectives.
  • Support learners in curriculum development, teaching and learning activities, scheduling, core competencies, assessments, and evaluations.
  • Coordinate all activities associated with the ongoing administration of the educational programs and initiatives.
  • Lead operations of the Medical Education office and act as a liaison for personnel or HR needs of trainees.
  • Ensure compliance with rules and regulations governing training experiences within the Department of Pediatrics.
  • Manage various educational experiences for residents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience/training.
  • 2-3 years of experience coordinating educational programs in an academic medical center.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs and web-based applications.
  • Ability to present and express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated active listening skills and ability to facilitate open exchange of ideas.
  • Adaptable to change and new information, with a high degree of initiative and independent judgment.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to complete work and meet established deadlines accurately and timely.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to interact collegially with faculty, staff, learners, and outside contacts.
  • Ability to manage confidential information discreetly and responsibly.
