About the position

The Operations Lead at the Center for Healthy Aging in Women at the Buck Institute is responsible for providing strategic, operational, and analytical support to advance the Center's mission of transforming women's health through research on ovarian function and aging. This role involves overseeing daily operations, executing grant-making processes, and facilitating communication among various stakeholders. The position is funded for one year, with potential for extension based on future funding availability.

Responsibilities

  • Execute policies and operational procedures to achieve strategic goals for the Center/PH.
  • Work closely with Administration to ensure smooth functioning of the Center.
  • Design and automate workflows to increase operational efficiency.
  • Assist Dr. Garrison with program budget and allocation.
  • Develop and execute an evaluation feedback framework to measure outcomes and improve program design.
  • Proofread, format, and submit joint Center grant applications and publications on time.
  • Prepare slides and graphics for presentations and materials to showcase the Center.
  • Maintain the PH consortium network database and website.
  • Manage social media accounts and collaborate with the Buck Communications Team to publicize news and events.
  • Organize and execute annual faculty retreats and stakeholder conferences.
  • Maintain the tissue biobank and reproductive tissue database.
  • Organize grant proposals and maintain a portfolio of grantees.
  • Represent the Center at conferences and liaise with local partners for educational initiatives.

Requirements

  • Degree or relevant training in Biology, Chemistry, or related field.
  • 5+ years' experience in research, non-profit, or business settings.
  • In-depth knowledge of aging biology, women's health, and reproductive biology.
  • Highly competent in writing and editing public-facing copy and persuasive communication.
  • Proven experience in strategy, analysis, and program management.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated supervisory, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Grants Administration experience is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in Office365, GoogleDrive, Slack, WordPress, MailChimp, Zapier, Airtable is highly desirable.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a Chief of Staff or team role at a biotech or non-profit.
  • Technical background with startup experience in program management or operations.
  • Entrepreneurial scientist interested in transitioning to a non-profit/operations role.
