About the position

The Operations Maintenance Coordinator at Clearwater Paper Corporation plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of the Pulp Mill Department equipment. This position is based in the Lewiston mill, which is the largest facility of Clearwater Paper, producing both paperboard and tissue products. The mill employs over 1200 talented individuals and is integral to Clearwater Paper's business strategy. The role involves coordinating maintenance requirements to minimize downtime and maximize production while adhering to safety, environmental, and quality standards. In this position, the coordinator will review operator and shift maintenance logs, engage with operators, supervisors, and managers to schedule and prioritize maintenance work. This includes urgent, routine, minor, and major maintenance tasks. The coordinator will also be the main point of contact for maintenance contractor work planning and oversight, ensuring effective communication between department personnel and maintenance teams. Safety is a top priority, and the coordinator will work closely with safety coordinators to ensure that equipment is locked out safely and that all necessary safety permits are obtained. The role requires maintaining a repair budget, monitoring equipment efficiency, and implementing preventive and predictive maintenance procedures. The coordinator will also be responsible for maintaining repair records to identify future maintenance needs and will oversee minor capital projects, ensuring they progress smoothly through the necessary processes. Additionally, the coordinator will lead weekly outage work meetings and manage outage scheduling and project timelines, ensuring that all maintenance activities align with operational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate maintenance requirements of the Pulp Mill Department equipment to minimize downtime and maximize production.
  • Review operator and shift maintenance logs and communicate with operators, supervisors, and managers to schedule maintenance work.
  • Plan and schedule all maintenance work to minimize lost time and costs.
  • Oversee maintenance contractor work planning and act as a liaison between department personnel and maintenance teams.
  • Ensure equipment is locked out safely and in a timely manner, including all required safety permits.
  • Manage contractor safety and complete contractor management checklists.
  • Maintain the maintenance repair budget and monitor equipment efficiency.
  • Implement preventive and predictive maintenance procedures to identify and address problems.
  • Maintain department repair records to identify future preventive maintenance needs.
  • Prioritize and oversee maintenance and minor capital projects, ensuring they progress through the process.
  • Lead meetings for weekly outage work and manage outage scheduling and project timelines.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a Maintenance / Planning position.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills to coordinate activities between Maintenance and Operations.
  • Self-motivated and energetic with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with JDE or other CMMS programs required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and personal protective equipment in a mill environment.
