About the position

The Operations Management Tutor position at the University of St. Thomas is designed to support undergraduate students in their academic success within core business courses, specifically in Operations Management. The tutor will engage in one-on-one and small group sessions, providing assistance with understanding course concepts, homework, and exam preparation. This role requires a commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment and promoting tutoring services within the Opus College of Business.

Responsibilities

• Participate in tutor orientation and training sessions
• Visit finance classrooms at the beginning of each semester to promote tutoring services
• Provide academic support to undergraduate students for OPMT 300, OPMT 320, and OPMT 470 (if qualified)
• Direct students to appropriate campus resources
• Track and make notes on all student appointments in Salesforce
• Remain up-to-date on department and course information, communicating with faculty when necessary
• Meet with supervisor each semester to receive a performance evaluation and provide feedback
• Accurately report all hours worked

Requirements

• Declared Operations & Supply Chain Management major pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration
• Completion of OPMT 310 and OPMT 320 with a grade of B or above
• Passion for operations management and supporting peer learning
• Ability to work with students with diverse identities and learning styles
• Natural ability to communicate technical operations terms in a non-technical way
• Comfortable communicating with staff and faculty in person and through email
• Strong customer service skills

Nice-to-haves

• Completion of OPMT 470 with a grade of B or above
• Tutoring experience
