About the position

The Team Manager for Operations plays a crucial role in leading a dedicated team of Case Managers, Replacement Technicians, and Policy Support personnel. This position is based in Montpelier, Vermont, or Addison, Texas, and operates on a hybrid schedule, allowing for a blend of in-office and remote work. The Team Manager is responsible for fostering a strong, professional, and focused team environment that emphasizes productive collaboration with the team's designated distribution partners. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the distribution partners receive the most efficient, productive, and satisfying life insurance placement experience possible. In this leadership position, the Team Manager will establish and maintain a focus on winning profitable business from the most successful distribution partners. They will serve as the primary point of contact for these partners, managing client relationships and addressing any conflicts or appeals that arise, except those strictly related to underwriting decisions. The Team Manager will also oversee personnel management, which includes setting team and individual performance goals, managing metrics, and developing individual development plans. Additionally, they will be responsible for team workload and capacity management, ensuring that performance metrics such as cycle time, placement rate, and persistency are met. Collaboration is key in this role, as the Team Manager will work across distribution and enterprise-wide teams to ensure alignment and efficiency in operations. The position requires a strong commitment to continuous improvement and the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively, ensuring that all team members are engaged and focused on achieving their goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team to provide efficient and satisfying life insurance placement experiences for distribution partners.
  • Establish and sustain focus on winning profitable business from successful distribution partners.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for client relationships with distribution partners.
  • Handle conflicts and appeals, excluding those strictly regarding underwriting decisions.
  • Oversee personnel management, including performance goals, metrics, and individual development plans.
  • Manage team workload and capacity, ensuring performance metrics are met.
  • Collaborate across distribution and enterprise-wide teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 10 years of business experience in the life and annuity industry preferred.
  • Solid understanding of distribution, marketing, and operations required.
  • Strong leadership and command skills.
  • Effective at motivating and managing vision and purpose.
  • Exceptional customer focus with an appreciation for distribution partner needs.
  • Demonstrated strength in building effective teams and developing direct reports.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to meet established deadlines and work collaboratively.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement is essential.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check that may include fingerprinting.
