About the position

The Operations Manager for the Cancer Center is responsible for directing and coordinating support services related to scheduling, reception, new patient referrals, and financial counseling. This role emphasizes maintaining high levels of customer service while ensuring compliance with regulations and fostering a positive working environment among staff and stakeholders. The manager will lead quality improvement initiatives, oversee departmental operations, and support staff development.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate support services for clerical activities of the Cancer Center.
  • Establish a positive working environment with physicians, staff, and stakeholders.
  • Promote open communication and drive quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to staff, fostering professional development.
  • Identify, create, and implement written procedures for support services.
  • Establish appropriate staffing patterns for successful operations.
  • Oversee inventory, ordering, and daily assignments.
  • Identify and implement remedies for potential problem areas.
  • Develop and maintain a departmental Quality Assurance plan.
  • Hire, evaluate, and discipline staff as necessary.
  • Assist the Director in developing and administering Capital and Operating budgets.
  • Act as a resource for staff in problem identification and resolution.
  • Develop department goals with stakeholder input.
  • Implement approved staffing patterns for the department.
  • Coordinate staff training, development, and education.
  • Ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Participate in organization-wide Performance Improvement Plan.
  • Provide input into Marketing Plan and Strategic Plan.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or 2-3 years relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years supervisory experience in a similar setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage projects.
  • Excellent communication skills with diverse stakeholders.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

  • Experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with financial counseling processes.
