Advanced Materials and Catalyst Technologies specializes in silica supports and catalysts, enabling the development of innovative technologies for sustainable products. The position is responsible for planning and directing operational activities in a Sulfuric Acid plant, Shipping and Logistics, PEP, and Water Treatment, overseeing operations to manufacture and ship products to customers safely, economically, and timely.

Responsibilities

  • Support and enforce the plant's HSSE standards (RC14001, Ecovyst Principles)
  • Participate in the Plant Management Team
  • Manage PSM elements such as unit safety file, PHA, MOC, etc.
  • Ensure PSM procedures are followed, and standards are met, e.g. bypass, PSSR, MOC, action item closures
  • Facilitate process studies to identify process and production risks
  • Ensure SUMO compliance with Eco standards
  • Ensure compliance in critical operating parameters (COPs) and very important parameters (VIPs)
  • Responsible for variable cost budget variance. Establish product BOM/Recipes
  • Facilitate month end closing and ensure inventories are reconciled properly
  • Ensure all policies, guidelines and standards are practiced and enforced
  • Support corporate and plant HSSE goals and initiatives. Responsible for the overall HSSE performance of the operations department
  • Be knowledgeable and supportive of HSE management system (RC14001) and Ecovyst principles
  • Ensure operational activities meet safety and environment compliance
  • Conduct incident investigations and root cause analysis as needed; ensure corrective actions are properly implemented
  • Participate in PHA. Ensure that process safety risks, consequences and safeguards are communicated and understood by those who could be affected
  • Solicit, identify, and prioritize improvement opportunities for HSSE, equipment, and processes and take action to address those opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with 8 plus years of industrial experience, preferably in Chemical Manufacturing OR 5 plus years of experience with a master's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering
  • Extensive knowledge of chemical engineering principles including process controls
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to reason and deduce
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint required
  • Willingness to work in a 24/7 continuous operation chemical manufacturing plant and be required to be on call on a rotational basis
  • Strong interpersonal communication (written and verbal) skills to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization.
