About the position

The Operations Manager - Hauling at Republic Services is responsible for overseeing the collections activities for commercial, industrial, and residential customers within a designated area. This role involves managing a team that includes Operations Supervisors, Dispatchers, Operations Clerks, Drivers, and Helpers, ensuring efficient route management and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The Operations Manager collaborates with the General Manager and other managers to implement local market strategies that align with the company's overall goals, driving operational excellence and budget achievement.

Responsibilities

• Manage a staff including hiring, training, coaching, and performance management.
• Implement and execute plans to complement the business unit's strategic and operating plan.
• Ensure maximum productivity and route management systems for commercial, roll-off, and residential routes.
• Interact with customers and government employees to resolve service concerns and ensure compliance with standards.
• Oversee effective safety and accident prevention programs to maintain a safe work environment.
• Lead operations to ensure compliance with environmental, operating, regulatory, safety, accounting, and ethics standards.
• Approve expenses and manage the budget for the operations department.
• Develop a best-in-class team and workplace culture, managing performance and talent development.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with government, community, and environmental groups.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or management experience.
• Demonstrated business acumen and strategic thinking.
• Ability to lead change initiatives and direct a large staff.
• Process-oriented and results-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
• Collaborative and able to build effective teams.
