About the position

The Operations Manager at IHG's new EVEN Hotel in Portland, OR, is responsible for ensuring guest satisfaction and the efficient operation of the hotel. This role involves supervising various operating departments in the absence of the General Manager, focusing on hotel profitability through revenue generation, cost control, and staff development. The Operations Manager oversees food and beverage services, ensuring quality and compliance with brand standards, while also engaging in staff training and development.

Responsibilities

• Ensure guest satisfaction and efficient hotel operations in the absence of the General Manager.
• Supervise operating departments including Guest Services, Food & Beverage, Food Production, Engineering, Accounting, Sales, and Housekeeping.
• Oversee food and beverage service operations to maximize revenue and guest satisfaction.
• Manage procurement, inventory, storage, preparation, and service of food and beverages.
• Facilitate healthful food & beverage and wellness-related guest programs.
• Engage and develop food and beverage staff.
• Assist the General Manager in revenue generation programs and participate in sales efforts.
• Conduct bi-weekly one-on-ones with Department Heads for personnel development.
• Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
• Assist in creating financial reports and meet corporate deadlines.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of progressive experience in a Rooms or F&B department at a hotel, or a 4-year college degree with 2-3 years of experience, or a 2-year college degree with 3-4 years of experience in a Rooms or F&B department.
• Previous supervisory experience required.
• Proficient in Windows Operating Systems.
• Ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
• Effective problem-solving skills in high-pressure situations.
• Ability to assimilate complex information from various sources.
• Strong communication skills to convey information clearly.
