About the position

The Operations Manager III at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation is responsible for managing the strategic operations of one or more departments within an aircraft manufacturing environment. This role involves mentoring entry-level managers, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, and executing company policies to drive process and performance improvements. The Operations Manager will also be accountable for budget management, resource allocation, and maintaining a safe work environment while fostering employee development and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

  • Assign production responsibilities, work plans, and schedule requirements to department managers.
  • Assist in the development and execution of business unit strategic plans to meet budget, product cost, productivity, inventory levels, delivery performance, and quality objectives.
  • Manage and assist in the development of annual budgets and long-range requirements.
  • Ensure established corporate financial controls are met.
  • Develop and mentor entry-level managers.
  • Coordinate with engineering, finance, materials, and quality to ensure schedules and budgets are met and problems are resolved.
  • Determine resource requirements and ensure departments have adequate resources to perform assigned tasks.
  • Develop and maintain a safe work environment, ensuring compliance with Environmental Health & Safety requirements and safety procedures.
  • Plan, develop, and execute manufacturing strategy encompassing Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement philosophies.
  • Troubleshoot and solve production process problems while minimizing costs and preventing delivery delays.
  • Identify and mitigate potential problems in cost, employee relations, quality, and productivity.
  • Develop and enforce quality standards and monitor workmanship issues.
  • Conduct periodic audits of departments to track compliance with Quality Assurance Procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Management, Aviation Maintenance, or related curriculum, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4 years of managerial experience with accountability in employee relations activities in a technically related role.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Completion process and excellent people leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, business acumen, initiative, and ability to work as a team player.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficient in using Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of lean manufacturing.
