About the position

The Operations Manager for Mohawk Global Logistics Corp will oversee operations related to the India Center of Excellence (COE) based in Itasca, IL. This role involves managing relationships with US clients and Indian suppliers, optimizing transport frameworks, and ensuring operational efficiency. The position allows for telecommuting up to three days a week and requires a strong background in supply chain management and international logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with US clients and Indian suppliers and agent partners.
  • Facilitate and attend business reviews with clients.
  • Make plans and assign tasks to the team based on reviews.
  • Advise and assess customers' existing transport framework and make recommendations to optimize routing and reduce landed costs.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with pricing and sales on new leads and provide support with the preparation and submission of RFQs.
  • Create KPI reports to measure team performance across various aspects of operations.
  • Audit shipment billing for timeliness and accuracy of invoicing.
  • Lead the onboarding process of new clients and work with sales to create and maintain SOPs and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and design solutions for challenging customer scenarios.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of customers' business and associated supply chain requirements.
  • Manage customer expectations to align with contracted SLAs and financial objectives.
  • Lead execution of tactical functions and resolve operational issues with shipping lines, CFS/Ports, and outside brokers/forwarders.
  • Identify and eliminate redundancies and inefficiencies in operational processes.
  • Utilize operational and financial tools to monitor tasks, set priorities, measure performance, and monitor accounts receivables for cash clients.
  • Review documentation and dispatch operations of dangerous goods to ensure compliance.
  • Oversee operations of breakbulk and special cargo projects.
  • Monitor market trends and regulatory updates and draft client advisories.
  • Manage the India Center of Excellence (COE) operations team, distributing and delegating workload.
  • Participate in hiring and onboarding processes.
  • Establish and track departmental goals.
  • Provide coaching plans for direct reports and host performance reviews.
  • Provide feedback and train the team.
  • Confirm the team has resources and support.
  • Ensure profitability of the COE.
  • Design and provide reports for internal and external purposes.
  • Communicate with the General Manager on shipping lane operations and make recommendations to improve operations.
  • Work with the management team to grow the COE.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • 7 years of relevant experience in international transportation and import logistics operations.
  • 5 years of experience working within the India-US shipping lane.
  • 3 years of experience supervising personnel in a freight forwarding environment.
  • Experience in P&L management and objective setting.
  • Experience using the Cargowise platform.
