About the position

The Operations Internship at Target provides a hands-on training experience designed to develop future leaders within the supply chain operations. Interns will work closely with managers and team members to understand the intricacies of Target's supply chain business, while gaining practical leadership skills and insights into daily operations. This paid internship involves leading teams, problem-solving, and ensuring safety and productivity in a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the execution of daily operations alongside team members.
• Maintain high standards of quality and inventory accuracy through standardized processes.
• Track various KPIs such as safety, teamwork, quality, and productivity to identify gaps and drive actions.
• Carry out process improvement initiatives using CI methodologies like Gemba and Fish Bone Analysis.
• Administer communication between IT and Operations teams to address system issues.
• Recruit and mentor team members to foster a continuous improvement mindset.
• Address team member concerns and remove operational hurdles to ensure smooth operations.
• Lead daily meetings for the operational team and share pertinent information.
• Plan daily goals and organize shift plans to achieve targets at the start of shifts.
• Conduct audits around standard adherence with safety, quality, and productivity.

Requirements

• Participation in school or extracurricular activities and experience in leadership roles.
• Strong interest in working in retail, specifically within supply chain facilities.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
• Problem-solving skills and strong initiative.
• Team-oriented thinking with enthusiasm for continuous learning.
• Ability to access all levels and areas of the facility to respond to team member issues.
