About the position

As the Operations Manager at our manufacturing facility in Cedar City, Utah, you will play a crucial role in overseeing all aspects of production within a respected and nationally recognized company specializing in power distribution. This position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and is pivotal in ensuring that our production departments operate efficiently, safely, and profitably. You will be responsible for managing various production departments, including metal fabrication, paint, assembly, panelboard wiring, shipping and receiving, supply chain management, and logistics. Your leadership will be essential in driving compliance with industry standards and enhancing overall operational performance. In this role, you will hire, train, and supervise managers across the production departments, ensuring that they are equipped to meet the demands of their roles. You will conduct weekly check-ins with production supervisors to provide coaching and guidance on planning, organizing, and controlling production resources and processes. Your ability to plan and schedule all stages of production projects, from sales order receipt to order fulfillment, will be critical in maintaining workflow and meeting customer expectations. Monitoring daily progress of in-process production will be a key responsibility, as you will need to address any deviations from the production plan by expediting or rescheduling as necessary. You will also assess and mitigate threats to production and profitability, such as supply chain disruptions, attrition, unsafe practices, and behavioral issues. Ensuring a safe, clean, and organized work environment for all production employees will be a top priority. Additionally, you will collect, analyze, and act upon production data to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction. This includes making informed decisions regarding reporting policies for product defects, vendor non-conformances, warranty issues, and production delays. Collaboration with the ISO 9000 Quality Manager and UL Compliance Manager will be essential to ensure adherence to production processes and industry standards, reinforcing our commitment to excellence and innovation in the power distribution industry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
  • Relevant experience in a manufacturing environment within the power distribution industry may substitute for the undergraduate degree.
  • MBA preferred.
