About the position

The Operations Manager (Mfg) is a pivotal role within the manufacturing facility, responsible for overseeing and supervising production operations. This position requires a proactive individual who can guide supervisors and monitor the quality and timeliness of production processes to ensure that customer needs are met effectively. The Operations Manager will act as a technical resource for production operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures while striving for continuous improvement in production methods and equipment performance. In this role, the Operations Manager will develop metrics to track and enhance packaging and equipment performance, assist supervisors in analyzing production orders, and ensure that all equipment is maintained in proper working condition. The individual will be responsible for assigning new work and projects to team members, analyzing production schedules, and establishing work assignments to meet production goals. Additionally, the Operations Manager will interpret company policies for team members, enforce safety and environmental regulations, and assist in diagnosing machinery malfunctions. The Operations Manager will work collaboratively with associates across various levels and departments to resolve work requests, improve processes, and ensure excellent customer service. This role also involves managing physical and system inventory, providing training and feedback to team members, and investigating performance concerns. The Operations Manager will play a key role in the hiring process for direct reports, ensuring compliance with company processes during candidate selection. Continuous evaluation of processes and implementation of improvements to optimize efficiency are essential functions of this position, along with adherence to established company values and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise production operations for assigned departments/facility.
  • Guide supervisors and monitor quality and timeliness of production operations.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Develop appropriate metrics to track and improve packaging and equipment performance.
  • Assist supervisors in studying production orders to ascertain type and quantity of product and packaging requirements.
  • Ensure equipment is kept in proper working condition.
  • Assign new work and projects to team members consistent with company and department goals.
  • Analyze production schedules and estimate hour requirements for job assignments.
  • Establish and adjust work assignments to meet production schedules.
  • Interpret company policies for team members and enforce safety and environmental regulations.
  • Assist supervisors and associates in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
  • Work with associates at all levels to resolve work requests and improve processes.
  • Manage physical and system inventory.
  • Use independent judgment to assign team member work duties.
  • Supervise team members to enable growth and success through feedback and training.
  • Investigate performance concerns and implement disciplinary action as needed.
  • Work with human resources to manage hiring process for direct reports.
  • Maintain an open working relationship with immediate supervisor/manager.
  • Evaluate processes and implement improvements to optimize efficiency.
  • Establish and document standard operating procedures and ensure adherence.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs or increase productivity.
  • Ensure team members follow company policy and maintain a safe work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, operations, engineering or related field.
  • 4 years of increasingly responsible production experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Significant combined experience in manufacturing, maintenance, and project management is preferred.
  • Ability to lead and inspire team members and build working relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Effective communication skills with co-workers and customers.
  • Attention to detail and pursuit of quality in work duties.
  • Ability to handle challenges skillfully and effectively.
  • Independently improve skills and job knowledge.
  • Efficiently perform accurate mathematical calculations.
