About the position

The Operations Manager will drive project delivery for Siemens Grid Software's Solutions team across North and South America. This role involves leading project teams to successfully bid, deliver, and support software solutions for utility control centers, optimizing energy generation, transmission, and distribution while focusing on environmental impacts through renewable energy sources. The position is remote within the contiguous U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Organize the Operations team for efficient use of project managers and leads, focusing on timely project delivery and exceeding customer expectations.
  • Lead project managers to improve efficiency, manage customer expectations, implement opportunity and claim management strategies, report progress accurately, and manage project risks.
  • Support project managers in defining and tracking scope, goals, schedule, budgets, risks, and deliverables in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Maintain and manage all project schedules in one tool to generate accurate reports and predict resource loading requirements.
  • Implement Agile project management techniques to meet evolving customer needs throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Communicate and manage expectations effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Set priorities for project and resource managers to resolve daily resource conflicts and identify necessary resources for successful project delivery.
  • Report on the overall status of all projects monthly and on 'trouble' projects weekly, working with management and engineering teams to address issues and ensure successful delivery.
  • Ensure timely sales support by working closely with the sales team to understand upcoming offers and deliver expert guidance during the pre-sales and sales phases.
  • Help ensure successful and accurate bid management by providing project delivery support during the proposal and handover phases.
  • Provide high-quality delivery by leading a motivated delivery team and managing customer relationships.
  • Lead the agile transformation within the organization and move customers to an agile model.
  • Identify key performance indicators (KPI) to measure success in the delivery organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 10+ years of project leadership (technical and/or managerial) experience with complex software systems
  • 10+ years of direct supervision of IT professionals
  • 10+ years of experience working with utilities
  • Must be able to travel 25% of the time
  • Ability to work in the U.S. without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
