About the position

The Operations Manager at Penske Logistics is responsible for leading teams in a dynamic operational environment to exceed established goals while ensuring customer satisfaction. This role involves managing financial resources, developing forward-looking plans, and fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement. The Operations Manager supervises drivers and collaborates with various departments to achieve operational excellence and meet financial targets.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and sustain training and competency for all supervisors and associates.
  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, and retain quality associates.
  • Maintain effective two-way communication to inform and motivate team members.
  • Meet or exceed all customer key performance metrics and objectives.
  • Interact daily with local customers to understand their needs.
  • Lead the team in identifying operational improvements such as route optimization and carrier selection.
  • Develop and execute annual financial and operating plans.
  • Ensure timely and accurate customer billings and associate payroll.
  • Lead a culture of safety and ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and track value delivered to customers.
  • Improve fleet/equipment utilization and maintenance availability.

Requirements

  • 4 - 6 years of related functional experience.
  • 3+ years of managerial or supervisory experience with DOT regulated positions.
  • High School degree or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint required.
  • Ability to build rapport and relationships with associates and external customers.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage problems and make independent decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute annual financial operating plans.
  • Ability to drive process improvement and lead change.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in logistics or supply chain management.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $80,000 - $85,000 with bonus eligibility up to 30% of base salary.
  • Monday - Friday schedule with hours from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
