The Operations Manager at Texas Central School Bus plays a crucial role in supporting the Contract Manager by overseeing daily operations and administrative functions. This includes route supervision, staff management, charter program oversight, and ensuring effective communication with both internal and external customers. The position is vital for maintaining operational efficiency and compliance with company policies, while also preparing for future advancement to a Contract Manager role.

Responsibilities

• Assist the contract manager with oversight of the location including supervision of location staff.
• Communicate job requirements and expectations, monitor staff performance, and provide coaching and guidance.
• Assist in meeting school district requirements and resolving service issues.
• Support financial administration to meet targets, including monitoring spending.
• Assist with problem-solving and human resources regarding employees and policy enforcement.
• Manage student issues and ensure effective student management.
• Be fully trained to run other departments in case of vacancies, including Dispatching, Safety, and Clerical.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and company recordkeeping requirements in conjunction with the safety coordinator.
• Develop skills necessary to become a Contract Manager and assist other locations as needed.
• Perform any other management requests or directives related to the overall function of the facility.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in the transportation industry; managerial experience preferred.
• CDL may be required with school bus endorsements.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work early morning hours.
• Professional and respectful attitude toward fellow employees and customers.
