About the position

The Operations Manager at Materion Brush Inc. is responsible for overseeing the overall production activities of the plant, focusing on safe operations, quality assurance, on-time delivery, and operational efficiency. This role involves leading the operations team, ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Operations team including Supervisors and the Engineering Department.
  • Ensure team member direction and goals are specific, relevant, and aligned with the plant and company goals.
  • Drive environmental, health, and safety ownership throughout the plant.
  • Ensure critical EHS initiatives are completed and policies are followed.
  • Lead EHS incident reviews and drive action items to completion.
  • Ensure accountability for quality production through training and standard operating procedures.
  • Execute the production plan ensuring timely delivery of products.
  • Drive sales and operating planning to optimize equipment operation and resource utilization.
  • Perform root cause analysis for operations deviations and implement corrective actions.
  • Analyze production capacity levels, cycle times, material flow, and manpower levels.
  • Assist Production Control in maintaining accurate production master data in the ERP system.
  • Coordinate operations staff from shift-to-shift to ensure plant duties are completed.
  • Work with the Plant Manager to identify and justify capital expenditures for improved production efficiency.
  • Ensure all plant policies are implemented and followed.
  • Communicate production performance to the Plant Manager.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement projects and ensure operational PMs are completed on time.
  • Participate in customer calls and ensure timely production data entry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, technical science, or a similar discipline.
  • Six Sigma knowledge with a Green Belt Certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills to establish priorities and allocate resources.
  • Ability to define goals, develop plans, and inspire the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage team strengths and recognize accomplishments.
  • Strong structured problem-solving skills and business sense.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment and understand customer requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience with SAP is a plus.
  • Presentation skills are a plus.
