About the position

The Operations Manager position at Midwest Motor Express in Wenatchee, WA, is responsible for overseeing and managing the freight operations of the terminal. This role involves planning, directing, and coordinating various operational activities to ensure efficient service delivery while meeting company objectives for profitability. The Operations Manager will also be involved in personnel management, training, and formulating policies and procedures for the transportation system.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, coordinate, and control freight operations at the terminal.
• Oversee pickup and delivery operations, dock operations, night operations, and road operations.
• Initiate, compile, and disseminate information and statistics related to operational problems and costs.
• Select and recommend personnel for various positions and provide training to ensure understanding of operations.
• Manage manpower planning and employment, focusing on labor cost control and performance per man hour.
• Formulate policies, programs, and procedures for the transportation system, including schedules and routes.
• Perform various other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 4 year college degree or equivalent experience
• 2+ years transportation experience in a supervisory or higher capacity
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Computer skills including AS400 experience, email, Excel, and data entry.
