About the position

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing manufacturing activities at the facility, ensuring operational efficiency, cost control, and adherence to quality standards. This role involves managing direct labor and financial responsibilities, coordinating with various departments, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to meet production goals and enhance customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Manage manufacturing activities and direct labor for the facility.
  • Coordinate production and production support activities.
  • Interface with key staff positions including Materials Management, Sales/Customer Service, Product Engineering, Quality, Accounting, HR, and IT.
  • Drive cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with customer shipping schedules.
  • Establish and execute capital planning efforts for manufacturing.
  • Develop, train, and involve employees in safety, efficiency, productivity, and quality improvements.
  • Maintain adequate staffing to meet production schedules.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and manage employee performance issues.
  • Develop and analyze the operating budget and project future needs.
  • Compile operating cost data and identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Ensure a safe work environment and proper training in safety procedures.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of experience in manufacturing operations with direct management responsibility.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Six Sigma/Lean certification preferred.
  • Master's degree and engineering degree are preferable but not required.
  • Proven track record in delivering new ideas and managing projects with financial responsibility.
