About the position

The Operations Manager at Resource Label Group will oversee multiple functional units including Plate Making, Ink, Press, Finishing, and Shipping/Receiving teams. This role is crucial for ensuring effective production and quality control, while fostering a positive work environment that emphasizes safety and employee engagement. The Operations Manager will be responsible for coordinating production activities, developing budget controls, and implementing operating methods to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
  • Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
  • Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problems.
  • Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
  • Revises production schedules and priorities as a result of equipment failure or operating problems.
  • Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.

Requirements

  • A minimum of six (6) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume, and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Position may require a Lift Truck Operator's Certification.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience utilizing Lean Six Sigma tools & techniques.
  • Understanding of Continuous Improvement principles and ability to manage CI projects.
