About the position

The Operations Manager at Dayton Freight is responsible for overseeing the efficient routing and movement of freight while adhering to budget guidelines. This role emphasizes the development of methods and procedures to enhance service center operations, ensuring high standards of customer relations and safety compliance. Responsibilities

  • Develop methods and procedures for efficient routing and movement of freight.
  • Utilize T.E.A.M. System for P&D and Dock Operations to maximize resource capabilities.
  • Prepare and compile production and service records to measure conformance to objectives.
  • Observe and inspect service center personnel to improve work practices and procedures.
  • Review logs and confer with supervisory personnel regarding scheduling and production requirements.
  • Maintain superior internal and external customer relations.
  • Assist in the training and evaluation of supervisory and production personnel.
  • Recruit prospective subordinate employees and conduct interviews.
  • Inspect service center facilities for safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Ensure security measures are in place at the service center.
  • Initiate requisitions for maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Work with Line Coordinator to plan and implement line haul schedules.
  • Coordinate service center activities with various departments.
  • Issue directives to coordinate expedited or special circumstance freight movement.
  • Investigate job-related accidents and ensure timely report preparation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety practices and regulations.
  • Participate in Controlled Substance Testing Program.
  • Conduct regular service center meetings to inform staff about performance and trends.
  • Facilitate communication and uphold the Open-Door policy.
  • Coordinate TQM Continuous Improvement Process and handle special assignments.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the LTL/Transportation Industry
  • Experience managing Drivers and Dockworkers
  • Familiarity with the geographical area surrounding the Service Center
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • Fluency in English
