About the position

The Operations Manager at POOLCORP is responsible for directing and coordinating activities related to procuring products for sales and distribution. This role involves managing warehouse staff, overseeing inventory management, ensuring safety procedures are followed, and supporting sales objectives. The Operations Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining operational efficiency and effectiveness within the warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

  • Hires, trains, directs and manages all warehouse staff, including warehouse associates and drivers.
  • Reviews open sales orders, purchase orders, vendor claims, and transfers.
  • Ensures proper warehouse safety procedures are followed.
  • Consults with regional buyers and vendors for product information such as price and availability.
  • Manages inventory, controls stock outs, and reduces excessive inventory.
  • Performs cycle counts to prevent inventory shrink.
  • Manages freight expenses and approves invoices for payment.
  • Handles Accounts Payable discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Supervises the routing, loading, and preparation of orders for shipment and delivery.
  • Trains new employees on warehouse and distribution procedures.
  • Discusses defective goods with quality control personnel and takes corrective action.
  • Supports sales staff in meeting sales objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of operations experience in industrial distribution or warehouse environment.
  • Operations responsibility for a $5-10 Million wholesale warehouse facility.
  • Experience managing a team of 5+ employees.
  • Computer skills including MS Office and Inventory Management software.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of industrial product lines such as pool and spa equipment, chemicals, and plumbing supplies.
